Rule: Individuals must consent to being listed in directories and must be able to verify, correct, or remove their entries.

19.—(1) The provider of a public electronic communications service shall ensure that any subscriber, whether an individual or a corporate subscriber, is informed, free of charge, of the purpose or purposes of any directory in which that subscriber’s details are to be included, and of any further use to which the information may be put, before that subscriber’s details are included in that directory.

(2) The provider of a public electronic communications service shall ensure that a subscriber is given the opportunity to verify, correct or withdraw their details in a directory before those details are included in that directory and that this shall be free of charge to the subscriber.

(3) The provider of a public electronic communications service shall ensure that a subscriber who is an individual is given the opportunity to limit the use to which the data included in a directory may be put, before those details are included in that directory.
